“The Summer Hikaru Died” is based on the popular manga by Mokumokuren, which has surpassed 3.5 million copies in circulation. It is a coming-of-age horror about high school student Yoshiki and the “something” in the form of his best friend, Hikaru.

[Synopsis]
Yoshiki introduces Kurebayashi to Hikaru. If the impurities keep increasing like this, many people will die... Kurebayashi, who once experienced her deceased husband “returning” but it ending in heartbreak, asks the two, “What do you want to do?”—then promises to help once she hears their answer.
