The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set during the Taisho period, it follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons and who embarks on a journey of battle. The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which aired from April 2019, became an instant sensation, and its sequel, “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train,” surpassed 50 billion yen in box office revenue worldwide. The total number of copies of the original manga now exceeds 220 million globally, making it a historic hit in Japanese manga and anime history.

Following the “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” the TV anime series continued with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc.” The climactic “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle” will be produced as a trilogy. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns,” released on July 18, 2025, has earned over 31.4 billion yen in just 52 days after its premiere.
