When the protagonist reluctantly agrees to the unreasonable request of a high school girl he’s just met, it results in a run-in with the police!? In Episode 2 of the anime “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai,” the protagonist and Tomoe Koga (CV: Nao Tōyama) deepen their relationship through a unique form of communication: kicking each other’s butts.
In Episode 2, Sakuta Azusagawa (CV: Kaito Ishikawa), the protagonist, tries to help a lost child (CV: Wakana Maruoka). However, Tomoe, witnessing the scene, mistakes Sakuta for a suspicious person and shouts, “Drop dead, you lolicon pervert!” as she fiercely kicks him in the butt. Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, Tomoe pushes out her own rear and says, “Come on! Just kick me! Now we’re even, right?” and urges Sakuta to kick her. When Sakuta reluctantly complies, a police officer happens to pass by at just the wrong moment, resulting in both of them getting a stern lecture.
The sequence plays out almost like a comedy sketch, but this incident becomes the trigger for Sakuta and Tomoe to form a close friendship, as “buddies who have kicked each other’s butts.” The park in Kanagawa Prefecture where this exchange takes place has become known as a “sacred site” among fans, and this is considered a famous scene that anyone familiar with the “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai” series would know.
