The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. The story, set in the Taisho period, follows a boy named Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) who battles demons after his family is slaughtered. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation, and the sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," exceeded 50 billion yen in global box office revenue. The cumulative worldwide circulation of the original manga has now reached 220 million copies, making it a record-breaking hit in Japanese manga and anime history.

Following the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," the anime went on to air the "Entertainment District Arc," the "Swordsmith Village Arc," and the "Hashira Training Arc." The final episodes, adapted as "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," are being produced as a trilogy. The first installment, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza’s Return," which opened on July 18, 2025, has already grossed over 31.4 billion yen in its first 52 days.
