The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which ran in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 2016–2020. Set in the Taisho era, it follows the struggle of a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), whose family is slaughtered by demons. The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train,” surpassed 50 billion yen in box office revenue worldwide. The cumulative global circulation of the original manga has now reached 220 million copies, making it a historic mega-hit in Japan’s manga and anime world.

Following the “Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc,” the TV anime continued with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc.” The finale episodes, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” have been announced as a trilogy. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza's Return,” which has been screening since July 18, 2025, has already surpassed 31.4 billion yen in box office revenue within its first 52 days.
