The anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. Set during the Taisho era, it follows the story of Tanjiro, a young boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, and his ensuing battles.

The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a hot topic. The sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in total worldwide box office revenue. Today, the total circulation of the manga has reached 220 million copies globally, making it a historic mega-hit in the world of Japanese manga and anime.

Following "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime aired the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and the "Hashira Training Arc," while it was announced that the climactic "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" would be produced as a trilogy. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza’s Return," released on July 18, 2025, recorded over 33 billion yen in box office sales in just 60 days. Overseas releases are also underway, and the film has now surpassed 68 billion yen in total worldwide box office revenue, including Japan.
