The anime series “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set during the Taishō era, it follows the story of a young boy, Tanjirō, whose family is killed by demons, as he fights back.
The TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc” began airing in April 2019 and quickly became a hot topic. The TV anime continued with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc,” and it was announced that the climactic story, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle,” would be produced as a three-part film series. The first installment, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza’s Return,” released on July 18, 2025, has recorded over 33 billion yen in box office revenue in its first 60 days.
