In a desperate crisis for Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), Genya Shinazugawa (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) steps in as his shield... The sight of the rough-mannered Genya joining forces with Tanjiro to take down a demon in the anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc" has become a moving and unforgettable scene.

In episode 6 of the Swordsmith Village Arc, Genya is ambushed from behind by the demon Sekido (voiced by Yuichiro Umehara). As Genya resigns himself to death, memories of losing his family to demons and of his older brother, Sanemi Shinazugawa (voiced by Tomokazu Seki), the Wind Hashira, flash through his mind. “I never had any talent, big brother. I can’t even use Breathing techniques, so I can’t become a Hashira. If I don’t become a Hashira, I can’t see you. I did my best, but it was impossible,” he thinks, on the verge of giving up—when Tanjiro rushes in to help, shouting “Genya! Don’t give up!”

"I'll protect you! Just focus on cutting off its head! Aren’t you aiming to become a Hashira, Genya Shinazugawa?!" Tanjiro pleads desperately. Then, another demon, Aizetsu (voiced by Soma Saito), appears behind Tanjiro. Genya shields Tanjiro with his own body, sustaining multiple wounds, but says, "I can’t...cut it… You do it...! Just this once, I’ll leave it to you!"

Genya, who had always treated even his fellow demon slayers coldly, risking his life to protect Tanjiro and fighting alongside him is a truly heartwarming development.
