The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. The story is set in the Taisho era and follows Tanjiro, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, as he sets out on a journey of revenge and survival.

The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which started airing in April 2019, quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. Now, the total number of copies of the original manga in circulation worldwide has reached 220 million, making it a record-breaking hit in Japanese manga and anime history.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime has continued with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc." The concluding episodes, adapted as "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle" trilogy, have also been announced. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza Returns," released on July 18, 2025, surpassed 33 billion yen in box office revenue within just 60 days. With overseas releases progressing sequentially, total global box office revenue, including Japan, has exceeded 68 billion yen.
