The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2016 to 2020. The story is set in the Taisho era and depicts the battles of Tanjirō, a boy whose family was killed by demons.

The TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a hot topic, and its sequel, the movie "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The manga's total worldwide circulation has now reached 220 million copies, making it a historic hit in Japanese manga and anime.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime adapted the "Entertainment District Arc," the "Swordsmith Village Arc," and the "Hashira Training Arc." For the final episodes, the production of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc" as a trilogy of movies was announced. The first part, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc: The Return of Akaza," which has been showing since July 18, 2025, recorded over 33 billion yen in box office revenue within 60 days of release. The film’s rollout has gradually begun overseas as well, and combined worldwide box office revenue, including Japan, has reached 68 billion yen.
