The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it tells the story of Tanjirō Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, and his subsequent battles. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" began airing in April 2019 with the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," quickly gaining attention. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," exceeded 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The manga now boasts over 220 million copies in circulation worldwide, making it one of the most successful works in Japanese manga and anime history.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the anime has aired the "Entertainment District Arc," the "Swordsmith Village Arc," and now the "Hashira Training Arc." The climactic episodes, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc," are being produced as a trilogy of theatrical releases. The first chapter, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc Part 1: Akaza's Return," released on July 18, 2025, recorded more than 33 billion yen in box office revenue within 60 days of its release. The film is also being released sequentially in overseas markets, with total worldwide gross, including Japan, surpassing 68 billion yen.
