The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. Set in the Taisho era, it follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" began airing in April 2019 and quickly became a sensation. Its sequel, the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office earnings. As of now, the manga has a cumulative worldwide circulation of 220 million copies, making it one of the most successful works in Japanese manga and anime history.

Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the anime series continued with the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc," while the climactic episodes were announced as a three-part film series titled "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc." "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc - Part 1: Akaza Returns," which has been screening since July 18, 2025, recorded box office earnings exceeding 33 billion yen within its first 60 days of release.
