[Photos/Images] “Nice to meet you”—Total Explosion! The Vividly Portrayed, Shattered Muzan in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” 1st

The anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is often praised for its beautiful animation, but one of the standout scenes in the “Hashira Training Arc” was when Muzan Kibutsuji (voiced by Toshihiko Seki) was caught in an explosion and revived his body. The vivid depiction emphasized the rawness of the scene, prompting reactions online such as “It’s way too realistic…” and “The animation is honestly incredible.”

In episode 8, the final episode of the “Hashira Training Arc,” Muzan finally appears at the Ubuyashiki estate. Kagaya Ubuyashiki (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa), the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, greets Muzan calmly, saying, “Nice to meet you, Muzan Kibutsuji.” However, in the end, he blows up the mansion along with himself and his family in an attempt to defeat Muzan. As a result of the explosion, Muzan’s flesh was burned away, he lost his limbs, and most of his face was destroyed—yet his regeneration began regardless.

The gruesome process of Muzan’s body reviving from a state where his bones were exposed was depicted with ufotable’s exquisite animation, bringing a raw realism to the scene. Viewers praised it with comments like “The visceral quality was overwhelming,” “The animation is seriously amazing,” “It moved so smoothly—just how many frames did they draw?” and “The depiction of damage and regeneration is far too realistic…”
