A Striking One-Legged Pose: NieR:Automata’s 2B Cosplay—What Was Hidden Under the Skirt to Recreate the Silhouette?

Comic Market 106 was held at Tokyo Big Sight on August 16 and 17, 2025. In this article, we feature photos of Merico participating as 2B from “NieR:Automata,” and in the form of an interview, we ask about the points she put effort into with her cosplay, as well as cosplay ideas she’d like to try in the future.

——What made you want to cosplay as 2B from “NieR:Automata” this time?

Merico: I’ve always been a fan of the “NieR” series, and since there was a 15th anniversary exhibition of “NieR” held in Ikebukuro this summer, I thought I’d like to cosplay “NieR” at this year’s summer Comiket.

I considered cosplaying as Kaine or A2 as well, but because of my personal quirk—my own mysterious rule of “hot costumes in the summer, cold costumes in the winter is what Comiket is all about!” (laughs)—I purposely chose 2B’s long-sleeve costume. I’m pretty resilient against both heat and cold, so I challenged myself while keeping close attention to my physical condition.

2B is both cool and cute; she’s one of my favorite characters. Also, I personally like characters with “mekakure” (designs that cover the eyes), which was another reason for my choice.
