Yurika Kubo, Masumi Tazawa, and Masaaki Mizunaka Take the Stage at the Advance Screening of Episode 1 of Anime “The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest”: “Look Out for the Close Bonds and Growth” [Event Report]

The worldwide premiere screening of Episode 1 of the TV anime “The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest,” which will begin airing on Saturday, October 4th, took place during the “ABEMA Anime Festival” held in Shibuya on September 23rd.

The advance screening and talk show for Episode 1 featured Yurika Kubo as Yorha Eisentz, Masumi Tazawa as Clasia Annerose, and Masaaki Mizunaka as Onest Rein. Shūichirō Umeda, who plays Alec Yugret, also participated via a video message. Stories from the recording sessions and the camaraderie among the cast were shared, creating a warm and laughter-filled atmosphere at the venue.

The original story is an otherworldly fantasy novel by Alto, which gained popularity after securing the No. 1 spot in the quarterly rankings on “Shōsetsuka ni Narō.” The plot follows Alec, a court magician who is unjustly banished, and his return to adventure alongside his former comrades from the “legendary” party, Lasting Period.

During the talk show, the voice actors first introduced their characters and shared their impressions of each other. When asked about Alec, Yurika Kubo described him as “an honor student and dependable, but with plenty of quirks as well.” Masumi Tazawa commented, “Yorha hugging Alec was utterly adorable,” and when Masaaki Mizunaka did an impression of Yorha, the audience burst into laughter.

Next, the conversation turned to the atmosphere during recording and the story itself. Kubo said, “It was wonderful to see the Lasting Period’s pose from their school days brought to life with voices.” Mizunaka expressed, “I’m looking forward to seeing more and more battle scenes,” while Tazawa remarked, “Although there are scenes of them fighting enemies, you can really see their strong bonds.” All three shared their excitement and expectations for episodes 2 and 3, as well as the story to come.
