Starting October 4 (Saturday), the TV anime "The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest" is set to air. As the title suggests, the story follows the protagonist Alec Yugret, a court magician who had dedicated himself solely to supporting his allies, but is suddenly banished from his party and loses his position.

The tale depicts Alec reuniting with the friends he once fought alongside at the magic academy to reform the legendary party “Lasting Period.”

In this article, we interviewed four party members: Shūichirō Umeda (Alec Yugret), Yurika Kubo (Yorha Eisentz), Masumi Tazawa (Clasia Annerose), and Masaaki Mizunaka (Ornest Rain). When we asked for their first impressions of the series, the conversation naturally expanded to the "banishment" genre.

—This work, "The Banished Court Magician," is a new entry to the so-called "banishment" genre, isn't it...?

Kubo: So there's a whole genre for that!

Umeda: Apparently, there is.

Kubo: I see!

—In recent anime seasons, it seems like someone is getting banished almost every cour (laughs).

Kubo: That's funny (laughs). It must mean there's demand for it.
