[Photos/Images] No Hesitation to Shoot Against Himmel! Iconic Scene with Illusionary Himmel in "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" 1st

In the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," which is rich with emotionally moving lines and scenes, one of the standout moments in the early episodes is when Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) confronts the illusion of Himmel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) in Episode 5. The scene where Himmel tells Frieren to "shoot," and Frieren responds without hesitation, "Yes, that's right," is still impactful to viewers.

For Frieren, an elf with a lifespan incomparable to humans, the ten-year journey with Himmel to defeat the Demon King was extraordinary. Although Frieren was initially indifferent to others, she unknowingly was influenced by Himmel, leading her to embark on a journey to "learn more about humans" after his death. Conversely, it seems Himmel also held special feelings for Frieren during their decade together.

In Episode 5, during their travels, Frieren and Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose) encounter the phantom demon Einzaam. This creature confuses its prey by showing illusions of someone important to them before devouring them. Frieren had previously battled this demon, which at that time showed her the illusion of her mentor, the great mage Flamme (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka). Frieren expected Flamme to appear again, but instead, she was faced with the illusion of Himmel.

The phantom demon uses the target's memories to show an illusion of a "significant person." Surprised to see Himmel's illusion, Frieren smiled warmly, pondering, "I guess I've changed a bit too." The illusions shown by the phantom demon often act in ways that confuse the opponent. However, the illusion of Himmel appeared calm and simply said, "Frieren, shoot." Upon hearing these words, Frieren agreed, "Yes, that's what Himmel would say," and cast her attack magic without hesitation to dispel the illusion.
