Scene Photo of Gintoki with a Defiant Grin Released & "Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō" Confirmed for Theatrical Release in February 2026

The release date for "Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō" has been unveiled. In addition, a scene photo of Gintoki and the latest updates on the YouTube "Gintama Channel" have been revealed.

The wildly popular manga "Gintama," serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha) and created by Hideaki Sorachi, boasts a worldwide total of 73 million copies in circulation (including digital editions). This exhilarating entertainment, packed with side-splitting gags, intense action, heartwarming stories, and bonds between characters, has been adapted into TV and theatrical anime, live-action films, and streaming dramas. In October 2025, the spin-off novel "GINTAMA - Mr. Ginpachi's Zany Class" (original story by Hideaki Sorachi, written by Tomohito Ōsaki) will start airing as a TV anime.

Even after roughly 20 years since serialization began in 2003, the "Gintama 20th Anniversary Project" continues to roll out major projects to excite fans across the country. As the final major announcement for the 20th anniversary project, the film "Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō" — featuring completely new animation — was announced in August 2025 for a 2026 release. Despite the serialization having ended, "Gintama" has continued to grow into a beloved property, bringing joy to many fans through various media adaptations.

On October 10th, which marks the birthday of Gintama’s protagonist, Gintoki Sakata, it was announced that "Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō" will open in theaters nationwide on Friday, February 13, 2026. Additionally, a scene photo has also been released.
