The anime Gintama is based on the highly popular manga by Hideaki Sorachi. The original manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) and other magazines from 2003 to 2019. It has recorded over 73 million copies in worldwide circulation (including digital versions). The series is a hilarious and thrilling entertainment package that features a mix of intense action, gag comedy, human drama, and emotional bonds. It has not only been adapted into a TV anime but also saw the release of successful animated and live-action films.
