What goes perfectly with plain white rice? In an unexpected twist, it's an NES cartridge!? The 233rd episode of the Gintama anime series, beloved for its absurd and over-the-top comedy, features an unbelievable mealtime scene.
In Episode 233, Gintoki Sakata (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) and his friends infiltrate the base of the elusive mercenary tribe, the Renho (Lotus Clan), in disguise. During mealtime, they line up for rations. Seeing the pot, Kagura (CV: Rie Kugimiya) excitedly declares, "Yay, I got it, Shinpachi! It looks like curry, 'aru'!" However, when their turn comes, what's served over their white rice isn't curry roux, but a red Famicom (Japanese NES) cartridge: "Excitebike".
Confused, Shinpachi Shimura (CV: Daisuke Sakaguchi) wonders, "Are they bullying me? Was it wrong to choose mild?" Next to him, a black Famicom cartridge, "Pankelinc Bay", is served as the "spicy" option.
