[Photos/Images] A Production Studio That Dares to Parody Gundam Openly!? The Voice Actors for That White One and That Red One Were Too Luxurious in the Anime 'Gintama'! 1st

The anime 'Gintama' is famous for its outrageous parodies, but Episode 235 is particularly astonishing. The bold and overly extravagant 'Mobile Suit Gundam' skit—made possible precisely because the production studio, Sunrise, is the same—went beyond generating laughter to outright amazement!?

'Gundam' and 'Gintama' share a commonality: both are works handled by the same production studio, Sunrise. It is likely for this reason that the 'Gintama' side was able to delve into the parody deeper than usual. Episode 235 was an episode dedicated entirely to 'Gundam' parodies.

Unbelievably, a human-shaped robot painted white with the tricolor scheme appeared right from the beginning! Although the head was pixilated, the design, from the coloring to the weapons, was almost entirely that of Gundam.

However, the astonishment doesn't end there. Toru Furuya  and Shuichi Ikeda , the familiar voice actors for Amuro Ray and Char Aznable from 'Gundam,' respectively, also made guest appearances. The usually silent Elizabeth spoke, voiced by Furuya, uttering the line, "It was only the main camera that was hit!"—a line heard somewhere before.

Even with the common connection of the same production studio, the sheer number of "straight-up" parodies must have been shocking. This episode is one of the ones that can be called a legendary installment in the long history of the anime 'Gintama.'
