The anime 'Gintama' is based on the hugely popular manga by Hideaki Sorachi. The original manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 2003 to 2019, recording a cumulative worldwide circulation (including digital editions) of 73 million copies. It is an exhilarating entertainment series packed with gag comedy, spectacular action, and human emotion and bonds, and has been well-received, not only through its TV anime adaptation and anime films but also through live-action film adaptations.
