Aura's Trauma: A Stunner from the Handsome Hero! The Shaking Terror is Revived in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cut, lasting less than a few tenths of a second, would you notice it? Episode 10 of the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey's End featured a fleeting moment indicating that "Aura the Guillotine" (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu) had previously suffered severe damage from Himmel's party.

Aura is one of the "Seven Sages of Destruction," Great Demons directly under the Demon King, and a formidable figure who has spent over 500 years honing her magical power. She wields the "Magic of Subordination <Azelüse>," which involves placing her soul and her opponent's on the "Scales of Obedience" and manipulating the one with lower mana as she pleases. She vanished after her battle with the Hero's party approximately 80 years ago, but reappeared about 30 years ago, once again leading her forces.

Episode 10 depicted the confrontation between Aura and Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki). With absolute confidence in her own magical power, Aura attempted to subjugate Frieren using the "Magic of Subordination <Azelüse>." In this scene, Frieren's past was revisited in a flashback, showing her meeting her master Flamme (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka), learning and practicing her teachings, and also her encounter with the Hero Himmel (voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto).

The adventure of defeating the Demon King, which Frieren undertook with Himmel's party, was recalled through a flashback sequence of rapid still images, akin to a photo album.This sequence included the exact moment Aura was slashed by Himmel. With her shoulder severed and blood splattering from the wound inflicted by Himmel, Aura's face was one of stunned bewilderment, and the "Scales of Obedience" had fallen from her hand.
