"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime work based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines. The deduction drama by Maomao, who ends up working as a "poison tester" in the rear palace, and the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka) have gained popularity and become a major topic of discussion. The TV anime has been broadcast up to season 2, and season 3 has been announced to air in split 2-cours starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled to be released in December 2026.
