The theme song "Idol" captures Ai's inner feelings, singing about how lies are the greatest form of love and expressing her belief that her lies will one day become true. The song's final lyrics also suggest that she has finally been able to say "I love you." The strong connection was immediately picked up by viewers who had just witnessed Ai's final moments, sparking reactions like: "The lyrics of 'Idol,' which I’d been listening to casually until now, suddenly became incredibly meaningful," and "I can't stop getting goosebumps."

The anime Oshi no Ko is based on the massive hit manga created by the duo Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, which has also been adapted into a live-action drama, a movie, and a stage play. The story begins when an obstetrician, Gorō (CV: Kent Itō), is reincarnated as the son of his beloved idol, Ai Hoshino—Aqua (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka). Having witnessed Ai's murder right before his eyes, Aqua enters the entertainment industry to uncover the truth behind the incident and seek revenge. Season 2 of the anime has already aired, and Season 3 is scheduled to broadcast starting in January 2026.
