Tougen Anki is based on the popular manga by Yura Urushibara, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten). Taking inspiration from the universally known Japanese folktale, Momotaro, this is a dark hero demon tale for a new generation, depicting the conflict between those who inherit the blood of the demons and those who inherit the blood of Momotaro. The story begins when Shiki, a boy living a normal human life, is suddenly attacked by a mysterious man belonging to the "Momotaro Agency."

Episode 18: "Seeds of Doubt"
[Synopsis]
When Shiki and the others arrive at the girl's house, it is already engulfed in flames. Unable to dismiss the hospital fire as a coincidence, they return to the Nerima Branch to report the situation. According to Masumi's inspection, it is highly likely that a Momotaro is monitoring kogasaki using some kind of ability. Masumi's speculation was correct. Shinya was using that ability to grasp kogasaki's situation. He had used his subordinates to set fire to the hospital and the girl's home. Furthermore, Shinya suggests the possibility that Shiki is the arsonist. This was intended to provoke Mikado, who tries to judge demons' good and evil with his own eyes. Meanwhile, Masumi assumes the worst and decides to abandon their current hideout. Additionally, he searches for the subordinates who captured kogasaki, attempting to find a clue to the Momotaro manipulating events from behind the scenes.
