New, exclusive solo character visuals have been released for the protagonist Coco and Qifrey, the mage who becomes her mentor.
The visuals capture Coco's adorable figure, donning her witch hat and holding a look of aspiration and curiosity for magic in her eyes, accompanied by an in-series quote. They also feature the gentle smile of Qifrey, who serves as the one who teaches and guides Coco.
A new character page has been established on the official anime website, where introductions for both characters can be viewed.
Comments Arrive from Cast and Staff
Coinciding with the teaser PV, the announcement also confirmed that Jun Shinohara will serve as Assistant Director and Hiroshi Seko will handle the Series Composition, among other staff announcements.
Comments from Coco's voice actress Rena Motomura, Qifrey's voice actor Natsuki Hanae, and Series Composer Hiroshi Seko have been released alongside the PV.
Full Comment from Rena Motomura (Voice of Coco):
"I am Rena Motomura, and I will be playing the role of Coco. Every time I turned a page [of the manga], I was reminded of the minor events of my own childhood and the feeling of 'aspiration' toward a dream. I immersed myself, seeing myself in Coco. The moment I was cast, I was so happy that tears welled up before my voice could even come out. The magical world drawn by Kamome Shirahama-sensei has been finished into the greatest anime. I, too, put my all into portraying Coco. I hope it reaches as many people as possible."
Full Comment from Natsuki Hanae (Voice of Qifrey):
"I am honored to play the significant role of Qifrey, a character whose gaze holds melancholy within kindness and who possesses a somewhat mysterious atmosphere. Also, Ms. Motomura, who is a junior at my agency, is playing Coco, and I believe we were able to record with a mentor-apprentice dynamic, much like their relationship in the story. The fantastic and beautiful world drawn by Shirahama-sensei has been transformed into magnificent animation by Director Watanabe's direction. Please look forward to the broadcast."
Full Comment from Hiroshi Seko (Series Composition):
"It's a manga like a high-quality dish made with fresh, rich ingredients, crafted with care and reliable technique—that’s what I felt while writing the scripts for the Witch Hat Atelier TV anime. A dish made in this way is not merely gently flavored; at times, it has a sharp spice, at times, bitterness, astringency, and sweet-and-sourness spread across the palate, and at times, an adventurous course is served. I believe this is what creates the special 'high quality' that only this manga can possess."
