"The Acting Was Amazing" "The Subtle Expressions Were Wonderful" Viewers Moved by Shiki & Mikado's Reconciliation and "Let's Meet Again"…Anime "Tougen Anki" Final Episode

The final episode of the anime "Tougen Anki" has been airing sequentially since December 26th. The episode depicted the long-awaited reconciliation between Shiki Ichinose (CV: Kazuki Ura) and Mikado Momodera (CV: Shunichi Toki), who had become adversaries, touching viewers' hearts with comments like "I cried" and "I'm really glad."

Shiki, an oni, and Mikado, the vice-captain of the Momotaro Agency's 21st Unit, had become friends without knowing each other's true identities. Due to the schemes of Shinya Momoiwa (CV: Chiharu Sawashiro), the captain of the Momotaro Agency's 21st Unit, Mikado discovered Shiki's true identity and came to believe that he had committed evil deeds, leading the two to become enemies... However, in the previous episode 23, Mikado's perspective changed as he witnessed Shiki's concern for his safety even while going berserk. And while delivering a powerful blow to the rampaging Shiki, Mikado wished for him not to lose his life.

In the final episode 24, "For the Sake of Meeting Again," Shiki was rendered unable to fight by Mikado's attack. Through the battle, Mikado seemed to realize that Shiki was not the arsonist. He asked Naito Mudano (CV: Hiroshi Kamiya), an instructor on the oni side, to "please apologize to Shiki-kun for me." However, Mudano replied, "An apology is meaningless unless you convey it with your own words" and "He's simple and stupid, but he's someone who can properly understand people's feelings," before leaving.

Later, Mikado appeared before the recovered Shiki. As Mikado looked uncomfortable, Shiki complained in a light tone, "Hey! I went through hell because of your misunderstanding!" and "I feel bad about going berserk too, but I wouldn't have gone berserk if you hadn't been manipulated in the first place." While Mikado took it heavily, saying "You're right" and "It's not something an apology can fix...," Shiki began, "But you know, even though my consciousness was hazy, I can say this for certain." Shiki then confessed that he had heard Mikado's voice wishing for him to live while he was berserk, saying, "I was super happy, and because you expressed your true feelings, I think I was able to resist going berserk until the end."

As Mikado's expression showed he was about to cry, Shiki apologized, saying "Sorry, you saved me." Mikado's eyes welled up even more as he said "Shiki-kun... you're so warm," and shed tears saying "I'm sorry!" To Mikado's apology, Shiki smiled and said "Don't worry about it, let's meet again," and Mikado responded with a refreshed expression, "Definitely again."
