2025 "Japan Anime Trend Awards" Announced! Information on 2026 New Releases Including "Oshi no Ko" Season 3 and "Akane Banashi"

In the latter half of the program, a segment was featured introducing 2026's new anime releases all at once. As trending works carefully selected by the program for next year, four titles receiving their first anime adaptations were introduced: "You and I Are Polar Opposites," "Though I Am an Inept Villainess," "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You," and "Witch Hat Atelier," along with four popular series sequels: "Oshi no Ko Season 3," "Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3," "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2," and "The Apothecary Diaries," for a total of eight titles.

From "You and I Are Polar Opposites," comments arrived from Sayumi Suzushiro, who plays Suzuki, and Shogo Sakata, who plays Tani. Suzushiro called out, "There are pop graphics (in the work), so please pay attention to how the forms that appeared in the original work move in animation!"

From "Oshi no Ko Season 3," Yurie Igoma, who plays Ruby, Megumi Han, who plays Kana Arima, and Rumi Okubo, who plays MEM-cho, appeared. Han stated, "This time, each character stands at a crossroads staking their destiny and life, so please look forward to it! I think you'll feel the powered-up aspects from the beginning," and Okubo showed enthusiasm, saying, "Speaking of MEM-cho, Season 3 has even more 'nurturing capacity'! Just watch episode 1!"

Additionally, the latest information on three notable works was unveiled for the first time. For "Akane Banashi," photos were introduced showing the cast members actually training in rakugo under the supervision of rakugo supervisor Kikuhiko Hayashiya. From "'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess" Season 2, scene cuts in production were shown, and from "Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana," the latest PV containing main footage cuts was publicly released for the first time.

At the "Japan Anime Trend Awards Ceremony" honoring 2025 anime works, all nine categories including "Anime News Award," "Anime Song Award," and "Anime Topic Award" were announced, and "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" was selected for the "Japan Anime Trend Award" given to the most outstanding work.
