"Chiikawa" is a popular manga posted on X (formerly Twitter) that illustrator Nagano began serializing in 2020. It won the grand prize at the "Japan Character Awards 2022" and the "Japan Character Awards 2024" announced in July 2024. The gap between the small and cute characters and the harsh world view has garnered broad popularity from adults to children, with followers surpassing 4.45 million to date.
The new series of the anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing from July 15, 2025, within "Mezamashi TV" on the Fuji TV network. Additionally, "Chiikawa's" first theatrical film, "Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu," is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.
