The Apothecary Diaries is an anime based on the hit light novel series by Hyuganatsu, which has also seen massive success through its manga adaptations across multiple magazines and apps. The series became a sensation thanks to its mix of mystery-solving—featuring Maomao working as a "poison tester" in the Rear Palace—and the comical chemistry between her and Jinshi. With two seasons already aired, the excitement continues to build: Season 3 is set to air as a split-cour series starting in October 2026 and April 2027, and the franchise's first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026. With "The Apothecary Diaries" exhibition also touring various Asian cities since November 2025, the series' global popularity shows no signs of slowing down.
