The TV anime adaptation of "Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen," a manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi currently serialized in Shueisha's "Ultra Jump," has been announced. Along with this announcement, the teaser visual, first PV, main cast, and staff information have all been revealed at once.
This work is a "romantic tale" set in Japan in the 1910s. The story follows Kodo Iwamoto, a student at Seiho Middle School, which is directly affiliated with the army, as he carries out a mission to investigate supernatural phenomena across the country under military orders and recommend individuals with abilities that could be utilized for military purposes to the academy. The story depicts the human drama surrounding paranormal phenomena and ability users.
Studio DEEN will handle the animation production, with Toshifumi Kawase as director, Keiichiro Ochi in charge of series composition, and Atsuko Nakajima as character designer. For the main cast, Taito Ban will play the protagonist Kodo Iwamoto, Yuki Sakakibara will play Iwamoto's junior Kai Haramachi, and Kento Ito will play fellow junior Soichiro Amaba.
The released teaser visual depicts Iwamoto standing alone amidst scattering, burning red spider lilies. The first PV features Iwamoto's powerful line "I'll become your senpai," along with scenes of him walking through snowy mountains and numerous supernatural phenomena and ability users.
Original creator Hiroshi Shiibashi commented on the anime adaptation announcement, saying "I hope this anime brings joy to everyone!" and also released a specially drawn celebratory illustration.
