The second season of the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" began airing on January 16th. In the season 2 premiere, anime-original scenes featuring the hero Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto) and his companions facing enemies were significantly expanded. Himmel was depicted moving at super speed, captivating viewers with comments like "The animation is incredible" and "What kind of movement is this!?"
In episode 29, the season 2 premiere, Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) is asked by Stark (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi) why she can entrust her life to a coward like him, prompting her to recall the past. Eisen (CV: Yoji Ueda), a former party member, had similarly asked Himmel, "Why can you say something like entrusting your life to me?"
To this, Himmel gently responded, "I see. Then if we feel like running away, let's all run away together. We're a party, after all."
From there, while the original manga depicted the scene of Himmel and the others fleeing from monsters in just one panel, the anime started the scene from just before their escape. Himmel gracefully dodges flames spat by the enemy with swift movements, and Eisen blocks the enemy's powerful attacks. Then, as Himmel picks up Frieren saying "Well then, shall we run away?", a four-person escape scene with a composition close to the original manga unfolds.
The scene of Himmel and his companions confronting enemies was depicted in greater detail with dynamic animation, and fans were thrilled online with comments like "Himmel is so cool," "The animation is incredible," "What kind of movement is this!?", "The hero party getting buffed is great," and "I'm happy they added combat scenes."
The anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga of the same name serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday," with original story by Kanehito Yamada and artwork by Tsukasa Abe. Set in the world "after" the Demon King's defeat, it depicts the story of Frieren, a mage who has lived for over 1000 years, embarking on "a journey to understand people," and the original comic has won numerous manga awards. Furthermore, the TV anime's first season began airing in 2023, and the work continues to gain many fans both domestically and internationally.
