The official X account for the "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" manga has released an original illustration by Abe Tsukasa, the artist in charge of the artwork, and it has become a major topic of conversation among fans.

The post features a unique scene alongside a message of gratitude that reads "Thank you for watching Episode 29," which marks the opening of the anime's second season.

The released image depicts Frieren and Fern sitting on top of Stark, who is lying face-down on the ground. While Stark grips his axe and endures the weight, the two sitting on his back and lower back area display worried expressions as if concerned about him being underneath them. It's a composition that reveals the relationship and closeness between the three characters.

"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is a manga by Kanehito Yamada (original story) and Abe Tsukasa (artwork). It was adapted into an anime in 2023, and the second season of the anime began airing in January 2026. Set in a world "after" the Demon King was defeated by the hero's party, the story follows Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), an elf mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a journey to understand people. It's a fantasy that depicts her reminiscences with the heroes of the past and her adventures with new companions Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose) and Stark (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi).

In response to this post, fans expressed comments such as "Thank you for Abe Tsukasa-sensei's wonderful illustration," "It was an episode that condensed all the good points of Frieren," "A reliable and gentle-looking vanguard," and "That's Stark for you," as well as voices expressing desires regarding the situation, such as "I want to be sat on."
