Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe will be released in theaters on Friday, January 30, 2026. This film is the second chapter of a three-part series that continues the drama from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. After parting ways with Gigi Andalucia, Hathaway Noa begins to act in earnest as Mafty Navue Erin, the leader of the anti-Earth Federation movement "Mafty," but he becomes trapped by Gigi's phantom and tormented by anguish.

In this article, we conducted an interview with Kenshō Ono, who plays Hathaway, and Reina Ueda, who plays Gigi. We asked them about their first impressions of the script and the unique points of this work.

——Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is positioned as the second chapter of the three-part series. What were your honest impressions when you read the script?

Ono: About five years have passed since we recorded the first chapter of Hathaway, and during that time I've learned more about the Gundam series and reread the novel to engage with the script, so my honest impression is that I was able to smoothly immerse myself in understanding what Hathaway is thinking.

Within that, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe focuses heavily on human relationships, so during recording I felt that I had to express things carefully. Of course, since it's the second chapter of the three-part series, the story doesn't conclude, so I also felt eager to read the continuation quickly.

——How about you, Ueda-san?

Ueda: It was striking that Gigi appeared somewhat different from the first chapter. Rather than the figure who could see through people's hearts and manipulate them in the palm of her hand, I felt that the ordinary, life-sized girlish aspects of her character were showing more clearly. I thought, "Was Gigi always like this?"

——Were there any aspects of Hathaway's portrayal that changed?

Ueda: I felt that Hathaway became more understandable. In the first chapter, I had the impression that he himself didn't know what was hurting him or what he was troubled by, and there was an atmosphere where his heart was clouded over. But in Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, he's consciously struggling.

I felt something like a concrete struggle in Hathaway, but in contrast, Gigi now seemed to have that cloud over her, carrying troubles she herself doesn't understand, and I had the impression that she's finding answers with intuition and speed. There were those differences in impression, but I remember reading the script thinking that both versions are still Gigi.
