It has been announced that the anime "The Ghost in the Shell" will begin broadcasting in July 2026. Additionally, the first key visual, the first promotional video, and music staff information have been released.

Since Masamune Shirow released the original manga in "Young Magazine Pirate Edition" (Kodansha) in 1989, the "The Ghost in the Shell" series has continued to amaze and inspire audiences worldwide through various works, including the film "GHOST IN THE SHELL" (1995) directed by Mamoru Oshii, animations, and Hollywood live-action films.

The anime "The Ghost in the Shell" is directed by Moko-chan, who has been remarkably active in numerous works by Science SARU, including serving as assistant director for the TV anime "DANDADAN," and this work marks their directorial debut. The series composition and screenplay are handled by Toh EnJoe, a science fiction novelist who has worked on "Self-Reference ENGINE" and also handled series composition and screenplay for the TV anime "Godzilla Singular Point."

Participating as character designer and chief animation director is Shuhei Handa, who has worked on character design for the Netflix series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" and the TV anime "Spriggan." Animation production is by Science SARU, which continues to produce highly acclaimed works both domestically and internationally, including the film "Inu-Oh," which was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the film "The Colors Within," which won the Best Animation Award at the Shanghai International Film Festival, and the TV anime "DANDADAN," making this their latest TV anime production.

The first promotional video consists of footage from the anime's main episodes being shown for the first time, offering glimpses of the drama and science fiction action woven together in this work by the protagonist Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg with a full prosthetic body, and the members of Public Security Section 9.

The first key visual features Motoko Kusanagi and is an original illustration by Handa, who serves as character designer and chief animation director for this work. It is an homage to Masamune Shirow's "The Ghost in the Shell" illustrations and represents a stunning visual that symbolizes cyberpunk science fiction.

The first key visual is currently on display at the "The Ghost in the Shell Exhibition: Ghost and the Shell" venue alongside original artwork from this production.
