The anime "High School! Kimengumi" is based on a gag manga by Motoei Shinzawa that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (published by Shueisha) in 1980. The original work started as "3-nen Kimengumi" and was retitled "High School! Kimengumi" as the characters advanced in school. It is a gag anime depicting the unpredictable school life of unique groups such as the "Kimengumi" centered around Rei Ichidō, as well as "Honegumi," "Irootokogumi," "Udegumi," and "Bangumi."
■Episode 5 Synopsis:
"Nemesis Don Harumage Approaches!"
The "Kimengumi" and Yui visit Rei's house. While looking at Rei's childhood album, they see a boy who was always next to Rei. It seems he moved away after elementary school graduation, but—? Rei's destined rival, Don Harumage, joins the fray!
"Let's Play Somewhere in the Universe"
Don, who transferred to Class 6, is a bit envious of Rei, who seems to be having fun in neighboring Class 5. Meanwhile, on a stormy day, Don and Rei pick up a mysterious creature resembling a horseshoe crab!? The two name the creature Pochi and bring it to high school, but things don't go smoothly...
