——What are the charms unique to the interactions between Eiyū and Akari?

Urao: Eiyū thinks that Akari hates him. However, that's because he doesn't understand her true feelings, and while he has feelings of wanting to get along like they used to, they end up clashing. I think that creates a different kind of clash and conversation compared to the other childhood friends.

——Indeed, in interactions with the other three, Eiyū often falters, but with Akari, they have quite a lot of fights.

Serizawa: I think Akari's good point is that she can think to herself, "Oh, I need to be honest," after saying too much.

She comes on strong with Eiyū, but as they go back and forth with each other, she crosses a line once where she didn't need to say that much. Once she crosses it, she can properly reflect, or rather, the feeling of "What should I do, I didn't mean it like that" properly kicks in.

Precisely because the other person is Eiyū, even if things get all messed up once, she can tell herself that she needs to be honest, so I think the part where they fight because they're two of a kind is also a good point.

——How was it actually performing the banter in the fight scenes?

Urao: Well, Serizawa-san came at me with such wonderful power that I was totally riding on that energy. The sound director told me many times, "You're losing with that."

Everyone: (lol)

Serizawa: Among the four heroines, I thought she was the character with the greatest maximum intensity, and I thought my job was to explosively release emotions with impact, so I shouted with full force as much as possible from the test (during recording).

——I think a distinctive feature of "You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!" is that it depicts not only Eiyū but also the friendship between childhood friends Shio and Akari.

Serizawa: Akari is really too twisted, and she doesn't know how to be honest with Eiyū and convey her feelings, or rather, she doesn't even know how to summon courage by herself. But with Shio there, I feel like she's being taught how to face Eiyū.

If it were just Akari alone, she'd say "I'm not interested anyway!" but when Shio approaches, she brings her back to her honest feelings of "I want to get closer too." I think that's the kind of presence she is.

Urao: Regardless of romance, I think the three of them are incredibly connected through their relationship as childhood friends.

——That's a unique point of this work where the characters are childhood friends with each other. Thank you very much!
