[Opening Theme: ALI "FUNKIN’ BEAUTIFUL feat. ZORN" Comment]
I’m doing the OP for the TV anime "Eren the Southpaw" with the rapper I truly respect, ZORN-kun! Last year, I lost my home and spent three months in a tiny temporary room with nothing but an acoustic guitar. Like the artists who strive for the heights, I took on this challenge. Man, I felt so much envy and hatred toward the world and people. And most of all, I hated myself—I was the one I couldn't forgive. (I was going to public bathhouses, spending and paying money, getting into trouble... I really thought of myself as an ugly creature that didn't deserve to live lol). In the middle of that life, which looked like an abyss full of paranoia, the words and music that came to me were "FUNKIN’ BEAUTIFUL"—something that embraces anger, beauty, and resignation all at once!! I was so happy when I thought of it and finished everything (the record is coming out too!) that it felt like all the darkness in the world had cleared up. I'm so glad I could fulfill my dream of making a song with ZORN-kun, and it's turned into such a masterpiece that I want it played when I die. (The full version is insane too because ZORN-kun is on another level, so look forward to it!) Since I loved "Eren the Southpaw" so much, when I got the offer, I decided I wanted this to be a work I reached by living my own life as hard as I could, just like Koichi, Eren, and Akari. And from now on, until we die, I guess we’ll keep being thirsty and hungry in this sad world of expression, art, and entertainment, living beautifully. FUNKIN’ BEAUTIFUL. Eren, will you laugh it off for me? Ah, long live music!! To all those who couldn't become geniuses, cheers! Long live Eren the Southpaw!!
[Ending Theme: Mulasaki Ima "New Walk" Comment]
I'm Mulasaki Ima. It is a true honor to be involved through the ending theme for "Eren the Southpaw," a work that has supported me in my own life. As both an artist and a creator, there were moments where I saw myself in both Eren and Koichi, and I was encouraged by their way of life many times. The song I wrote for this, "New Walk," is like a retrospective exhibition—it affirms and loves Eren’s life of dedicating everything to art and fighting loneliness, and even the lives she didn't choose.
