■Seki & Kawashima: "It's the Real Deal!" Studio Erupts in Excitement as Ventriloquism Superstar Ikkokudo Appears
Kawashima had previously stated that he wanted to "challenge not just voice acting, but various forms of expression." Following the kamishibai experience in episode #30, this time he challenged ventriloquism as the second installment of experiencing "voice-utilizing jobs" outside of voice acting.
Appearing as the instructor was ventriloquism superstar Ikkokudo. Seki and Kawashima greeted him with great excitement, exclaiming "Wow! It's the real deal!" Immediately after, Ikkokudo's ventriloquism performance was showcased, and the two were deeply moved, saying "Amazing!" and "This is too luxurious!" Furthermore, he performed his "satellite broadcast routine" where voices are heard with a delay, as well as ventriloquism impersonation of Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi, and the studio was filled with both amazement and laughter at his spectacular artistry.
Next, they delved deeper into Ikkokudo's career. He revealed that despite experiencing work as an impersonation comedian and as an actor at Gekidan Mingei, he struggled to find success. While searching for new forms of entertainment, he recalled being moved by ventriloquism he had seen on a TV news program when he was in eighth grade, thinking "There's such an interesting art form in this world," which led him down the path of ventriloquism.
Furthermore, stoic episodes about mastering ventriloquism were shared, including moments where he revealed, "While working, I practiced 8 hours a day" and "I devoted my daily life to ventriloquism, so I spent all my time with this mouth position (underbite) (lol)." Kawashima admired this thorough attitude, saying "What an incredible professional." Seki also spoke in an overwhelmed manner, saying "He's a world-class performer. We shouldn't talk about him on the same level."
