To commemorate the opening of the 30th Anniversary TV Anime Detective Conan Exhibition, a special ceremony was held at Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall. The event featured original creator Gosho Aoyama, alongside singer Mai Kuraki and voice actors Minami Takayama and Kappei Yamaguchi.
This exhibition showcases the history and behind-the-scenes production of the TV anime Detective Conan as it celebrates its 30th year on air. At the entrance, in honor of the 30th anniversary, Conan Edogawa and 30 other characters welcome visitors. This is followed by the Introduction area, which features a massive compilation of the iconic opening narration sequences spanning the entire 30-year history of the show.
The main exhibits are structured to let visitors experience the step-by-step process of how the anime is brought to life. In the #1 Planning area, character designs, art setting materials, and key points that Aoyama-sensei prioritizes when creating characters are on display. There are also physical models of locations like the Mori Detective Agency, recreated based on actual production art. The #2 Storyboard section features an entire wall covered in a vast collection of real storyboards, while #3 Animation allows visitors to see the moment characters come to life, moving frame-by-frame from black-and-white line art to full-color animation.
Furthermore, #4 Voice Recording features a corner where fans can compare the different nuances of Conan Edogawa's emotions—joy, anger, pathos, and humor—alongside comments from the voice cast. In #5 Theme Songs, visitors can trace the history of the series' music through chronological timelines and past CD jackets. Other highlights include the Memorial Scenes area, which looks back at famous moments in chronological order since the 1996 premiere, the Thanks Theater featuring an original story created for this exhibition, and an area dedicated to the history of the Next Conan’s Hint segments seen after the ending credits. This allows fans to explore the 30-year journey from various angles.
To enhance the experience, an audio guide (700 yen) is available, allowing visitors to explore while listening to the voices of Conan Edogawa, Kaito Kid, Toru Amuro, and others. The venue also offers over 70 items for sale, including original merchandise featuring 31 characters drawn specifically for this event, as well as goods utilizing rare production materials from the animation process.
Additionally, a collaboration event with Tokyo Dome City is running concurrently. Five attractions, including the Big-O Ferris wheel, feature original voice recordings and collab videos. Fans can also participate in a mystery-solving stamp rally with prizes at the goal, and a sticker giveaway campaign at participating restaurants.
