The anime "High School! Kimengumi" is based on a gag manga by Motoei Shinzawa that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (published by Shueisha) in 1980. The original work started as "3-nen Kimengumi" and was retitled "High School! Kimengumi" as the characters progressed through school. It is a gag anime depicting the unpredictable school life of unique groups such as "Honegumi," "Irootokogumi," "Udegumi," and "Bangumi," centered around Rei Ichidō and the "Kimengumi."

"That Day's Kimengumi"
Looking at a small park near the school, the "Kimengumi" and Chie get excited reminiscing about memories of playing there in the past. Yui, who transferred to the school, feels a bit envious of such "old memories." Meanwhile, everyone decides to watch a video of Rei's "I Tried Going on an Errand!" that was recorded by Rei's father, Takuseki. Rei in the video is a first-year elementary school student. Although the "Kimengumi" was formed in middle school, it seems that they, who grew up in the same neighborhood, were actually quite close to each other...? And among the children that young Rei met that day was a certain girl.
