■First Impressions of Akane-banashi: What Did the Cast Think?

The stage featured a "sketchbook talk" segment moderated by Nagase. For the first prompt, "First impressions of the series," both Kobayashi and Yamashita answered with "Jump."

Yamashita explained, "There’s a fascination in watching Akane identify her challenges, and it has a heat similar to a sports series." Kobayashi passionately agreed, adding, "It’s packed with friendship, effort, and victory. The question of whether effort truly leads to victory is incredibly intense and exciting."

Azakami answered with "Humanity (Ninjo)," noting, "Rakugo has many 'Ninjo-banashi' (stories of human emotion), and characters appear who seem to carry on the spirit of those who cherished Edo-period humanity." This highlighted the depth of the work.

Meanwhile, Shimazaki gave a unique answer: "Glittering Grit (Gira-Kira)." He elaborated, "It’s not just modern 'smartness'; there’s a certain 'gira' (glaring grit) or gutsiness to it. You can't climb the path of artistry without that kind of intensity. Yet, that hunger is 'kira-kira' (glittering) and beautiful." Nagase nodded in agreement, adding, "Everyone has a different type of 'mera-mera' (burning passion) inside them. It’s a very cool series."

■Which Character Would You Want as Your Senior Apprentice?

The next topic was "Which character would you want as your senior apprentice?" While Shimazaki chose Maikeru, Azakami chose Kyoji, and Kobayashi chose Guriko—all from the brothers gathered on stage—Yamashita made the surprise choice of "Miku-chan" (Mamoru Mikuriya).

When asked why, Yamashita explained, "Akane has connections with many people, and she receives hints and light for her rakugo even outside the theater. One of those people is Miku-chan. I love that episode!" Nagase teased the audience’s curiosity, saying, "Please look forward to the broadcast to see how that episode unfolds."

The latter half of the event featured a segment called "A Riddle to Close the Show," in which Nagase also participated. Each cast member provided clever answers to rakugo-related riddles, drawing massive cheers from the crowd. Finally, the cast shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming premiere, bringing the highly successful stage event to a close.
