The manga Sgt. Frog (Original Work: Mine Yoshizaki) has been serialized in Monthly Shōnen Ace since 1999. As part of the anime's 20th-anniversary project, the first new theatrical feature in 16 years, Sgt. Frog (movie 2026), held a talk stage event at "AnimeJapan 2026" on Sunday, March 29.

The TV Tokyo Booth stage and the AJ Special Stage featured Kumiko Watanabe (voice of Sgt. Keroro), Etsuko Kozakura (voice of Private Second Class Tamama), Ano (serving as the PR Ambassador and Opening Artist), and Yuichi Fukuda (Screenwriter and General Director of the film). A report has arrived detailing the event, which was filled with excitement over the announcement of the release date and the reveal of original characters.

TV Tokyo Booth Stage: Passionate Thoughts on the First Movie in 16 Years

The TV Tokyo Booth stage kicked off to thunderous cheers and warm applause. Director Fukuda, who mentioned he never missed an episode of the anime broadcast, looked back on those days, saying, "I was incredibly envious of how far they could go with parodies."

Regarding her feelings when the new movie was greenlit, Watanabe revealed the pressure and enthusiasm she felt for the recording session: "I was incredibly nervous. I worried people might say my voice had changed, so I focused on getting into the best physical shape of my life (lol)."

Ano, who accepted the offer to be the PR Ambassador and perform the opening theme "Mata Kaetteketa Kero! to March," shared her sincere joy: "It’s a series I’ve loved forever, so it didn't feel real at first, but I was so happy. I decided to give it my absolute all."
