Yuko Sanpei, Fuka Izumi, and Daisuke Sakuma Take the Stage at the "Kill Blue" AJ2026 Event! Episode 1 Synopsis & Preview Cuts Revealed

On March 28, the first day of "AnimeJapan 2026," the "BACK TO SCHOOL! Anime 'Kill Blue' Special Stage" was held, featuring Yuko Sanpei (voice of Juzo Ogami), Fuka Izumi (voice of Noren Mitsuoka), and Daisuke Sakuma (voice of Shin Kohazame). Additionally, the synopsis and preview cuts for Episode 1 of the anime "Kill Blue" were released.

The series is based on the manga by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 2023 to 2025. It is a "youth-redo" school action comedy following Juzo Ogami (CV: Yuko Sanpei), a legendary hitman who was turned into a middle schooler by a certain incident and must navigate the troubles of the underworld while attending school. Episode 1 is set to premiere on April 11 at 11:00 PM on TV Tokyo and its affiliates.

At the start of the stage event, the cast members appeared while performing lines from their respective characters. Sanpei began with, "It’s a fair handicap. Maybe it’s time I showed you what a difference in career looks like." Izumi followed with, "I have a boyfriend! It’s this Juzo Ogami-kun!" Finally, Sakuma added, "He might be tougher than I thought—my rival in love for this job." The special stage, serving as the grand finale for the booth, began amidst the loudest applause of the day.

During the talk show, Sanpei, who plays Juzo Ogami—a legendary hitman who is 39 years old on the inside despite his middle school appearance—discussed the character's appeal and recommended scenes. "I hope to portray both the grizzled maturity and melancholy of an adult, as well as the side of him being an old guy at the mercy of middle schoolers. The scenes where he gets jerked around by his classmates are hilarious!" she remarked.

Next, Izumi spoke about Noren Mitsuoka, the daughter of a pharmaceutical company owner responsible for the "wasp" that caused Juzo's transformation and who shares a history with him. "She has an incredible rebellious spirit for a heroine. She’s a strong-willed girl who wants to overcome things on her own, so she’s a 'tough-type' heroine who doesn't seem to have any intention of being protected!" she pitched.
