[Photos/Images] Blatantly Obvious Checkered Pattern Sparks Jokes and "Kamaboko Gonpachiro" Answers! Demon Slayer Tanjiro Character Quiz Goes Viral 1st

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has launched a "Character Guessing Quiz" as a tie-in with the full series re-broadcast that began on April 5. The quiz's content is already drawing significant attention from the fanbase.

This particular post featured a question from the very first episode, "Cruelty," of the series' starting point: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc.

The shared image features the text "Question: Who is this character?" alongside a circular cutout showing a portion of a character. However, since the cutout clearly shows the iconic green-and-black ichimatsu (checkered) haori, the blue scarf, and the charcoal basket on the back, it is unmistakably the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado (CV: Natsuki Hanae). For fans, the answer couldn't be more obvious.

Responses to the post have been flooded with fans not only naming Tanjiro but also offering creative and humorous answers like: "The eldest son of the Kamado family who went to sell charcoal so his family could eat their fill for the New Year," "The eldest son of the charcoal burner's hut," and "The kind, hard-working eldest of six siblings before he joined the Demon Slayer Corps!" Some even dropped the fan-favorite gag name, "Kamaboko Gonpachiro." Many poked fun at the difficulty, calling it a "gimme question," while others expressed excitement for the future, saying, "I bet the questions will get way more obscure as we go..."

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge. Set in Taisho-era Japan, the dark fantasy tale follows Tanjiro, a young boy whose family is slaughtered by demons. To turn his sister Nezuko (CV: Akari Kito)—who was transformed into a demon—back into a human, he joins the "Demon Slayer Corps," an organization dedicated to hunting demons, and throws himself into a grueling battle alongside his comrades.
