[Photos/Images] Wait, It's Not Fan Art, It's the Official Artist Himself!? Imigi Muru's Recreation of a Viral Meme with Chisato & Takina from "Lycoris Recoil" Becomes a Hot Topic 1st

An illustration of "Lycoris Recoil" using the composition of a currently explosively viral meme has been published on manga artist Imigi Muru's official X account, sparking major discussion.

The published image references a three-panel comic template posted by Jok Wonger (@Min_tramcam) on April 4th. The original meme features a composition where one person enthusiastically gives a thumbs up, another calmly points something out, and ultimately both end up with straight faces looking dejected. In Imigi Muru's illustration, Chisato Nishikigi (CV: Chika Anzai) is drawn on the left side, and Takina Inoue (CV: Shion Wakayama) on the right. In the first panel, Chisato is leaning towards Takina with a beaming smile and thumbs up, but in the second panel, she's met with Takina's calm gaze, and in the third panel, both have expressions of emptiness and straight faces, depicted in a comical manner.

The original TV anime "Lycoris Recoil" is set in the Japanese-style café "Café LycoReco," a branch of the secret organization "DA (Direct Attack)" that prevents crimes before they happen, and depicts Chisato, called the strongest Lycoris in history, and Takina, an excellent but troubled Lycoris, as they tackle various requests. It aired from July to September 2022, and received acclaim for its charming characters and authentic gun action. Imigi Muru served as the character designer for the series.

With the illustration drop by Imigi Muru himself, the character designer, voices of astonishment flooded social media with comments like "Oh! Nice fan art!!" and "Whaaat!? I thought it was fan art, but it's Imigi Muru himself..." Additionally, reactions of joy were sent in response to the depiction that brilliantly captured the characters' personalities, such as "Always the sidekick move lol" and "I seriously love this side of Chisato lol."
