The official X account for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End recently shared images of a new figure featuring Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) with her hair in braids, and her overwhelming cuteness has become a massive topic of discussion among fans.
The images showcase the "POP UP PARADE Frieren: Braids Ver." figure. Dressed in her familiar white cape with gold-accented attire, Frieren sports a braided hairstyle divided into two, rather than her usual twintails. The figure captures a characteristic pose where she lightly pinches the end of her right braid, sporting a slightly smug yet composed expression.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a fantasy series set in the world "after" the Hero and his party defeated the Demon King. It follows Frieren, an elf mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a journey to understand humans following the death of her former comrade, the Hero Himmel. The original manga, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, enjoys immense popularity and has gained widespread support through its TV anime adaptation.
In the story, Frieren's braids are tied by her apprentice, Fern. There is a specific detail in the setting where Fern changes the way she braids the hair depending on whether she is in a good or bad mood—a difference that can be distinguished after traveling with her for a long time.
In response to this rare look, fans flooded the post with joy, referencing the series' lore with comments like, "I can hear the sound of Himmel falling over in shock," and "It’s the braids for when she’s in a good mood!" Other comments gushing over the figure included, "This is way too cute, I need it," and "If she were this cute, she would've definitely been #1 in the ranking."
In the character popularity poll results announced this March, Frieren ranked 4th. Consequently, many fans feel that with this level of overwhelming cuteness, she could have taken the top spot. Pre-orders for the figure began on April 17, 2026.
