——What inspired you to cosplay Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries?

Mizuiro Nene w (hereafter, Mizuiro): It all started because I love Maomao so much and had always wanted to try cosplaying her. From the first time I saw the series, I thought, "I definitely want to do this." I also felt that we have some personality traits in common, which is another thing that drew me to her.

——What points were you particularly conscious of for this cosplay?

Mizuiro: The point I was most conscious of for this cosplay was recreating "Maomao-ness." Since I am also from China, I think I was able to express the character by utilizing that shared background.

——The recreation of the bandage on Maomao’s left arm is very high quality. Your posing was also quite impressive.

Mizuiro: To get closer to the original work, I paid attention to the fine details, such as tying the back of the wig securely and meticulously crafting the small parts of the hair ornaments. As for the posing, I referred to the illustrations from the original work and the movements in the anime, recreating them while thinking, "I wonder if this is how Maomao would move."
