[Photos/Images] "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" Memories of terror etched into Aura? The single "traumatic" cut shown for just a fleeting moment 1st

Did you know that in Episode 10 of the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," a "memory of defeat" once tasted by a Great Demon is depicted for just a split second? Though it’s a brief moment that could easily be missed if you aren't watching closely, a decisive scene is inserted showing that "Aura the Guillotine" (CV: Ayana Taketatsu) was once overwhelmed by the Hero Himmel and his party.

The anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," currently available for streaming, is based on the manga of the same name serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday," written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. Set in a world "after" the Demon King has been defeated, it tells the story of Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), an elven mage who has lived for over 1,000 years, as she embarks on a "journey to understand people."

The original manga, which has surpassed 35 million copies in circulation, has won numerous awards, including the "Manga Taisho 2021," the "25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize" New Creator Prize, the "69th (2023) Shogakukan Manga Award," and the "48th Kodansha Manga Award" in the Shonen category. The first season of the TV anime aired starting in September 2023, followed by the second season in January 2026. It has also been announced that the third season, "Golden Land Arc," will begin broadcasting in October 2027.

Aura is a Great Demon counted among the "Seven Sages of Destruction" directly under the Demon King. She has dedicated more than 500 years to honing her mana and wields "Auserlese (Obedience Magic)," which allows her to forcibly subjugate others with her magical power. She had disappeared after being defeated in a battle with the Hero's party in the past, but 30 years after Himmel's death, she appeared before humanity once again, leading an army.

In Episode 10, Aura and Frieren confront each other. Confident that her own mana is superior, Aura holds up the "Scales of Obedience," but Frieren remains calm as she watches Aura, who makes no effort to hide her mana. At that moment, images of Frieren's past flow across the screen, showing scenes from her training days with her master Flamme and her journey to save the world with Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto) and the others.
